Awsome work

This is a great piece. It's cool to see how you layer different things, and using them in different levels. I don't know if that makes sense, exactly. Basically, it's great to see how an idea evolved into so many different things, without sounding boring, and it's able to sustain itself, using itself as melody and accompaniment.

F-777 responds:

Thanks so much man! Ye it does make sense =).

Thanks again!

Great stuff man!

It is very upbeat, and it keeps moving with new and interesting stuff. Good work on the piece as a whole!

sweet

I like it. Can't say much more about it. The sounds got to me after a while, but I really like the tune. I think if I were in more of a techno/dance mood right now I would enjoy it more. Great stuff.

great work!

Another awesome piece from you guys. This is really entertaining and interesting. Awesome tune.

nice

I think it's a nice piece. It's very soothing and interesting. Not overly complicated, but it doesn't need to be. Why is it called Homecoming? I can sorta understand it, but i'm just wondering why you picked that name.

Another great work

Your music is amazing and extremely useful for movies and animations. As I listen, I can always see a scene. Your music has inspired me to continue some stories of mine because just listening to this piece evokes many images, and displays a story very well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are a great composer. Have you ever considered writing a concerto or suite for here? Not that it's important at all.
Not that any of your pieces aren't, but I want to hear something incredibly epic from you. I'm sort of thinking of the end of Pines of Rome - Pines of the Appian Way, or the end of A Venetian Coronation, or anything of the likes. Very big, brassy, a lot going on, a lot of huge chords. And, adding to that, a lot of motion, and playing multiple themes at once, or/also playing a them, augmented over itself. I think you could easily write something that's so epic it would cause anyone listening to it have a massive orgasm so big that their heart stops, or explodes out of their chest. Your works are epic, but I would love to get chills from listening to something truly epic.

MaestroRage responds:

hmmm... but if I made something THAT epic... my entire listener base would die D:... and then i'd have nobody to share stories with :'(

But I do intend to write concertos, suites, and all that good stuff. I am however not confident enough in my abilities to do it right. I am currently studying orchestration and enhancing my music theory so that I can carry out this journey properly. The days of learning by trial and error are long gone and to do so any further would prove worthless to both myself and anybody who would want to listen.

You will have your epic boom Dufanzy, one day, I promise.

Until that day, I ask you bare with me as I continue to tell stories :)

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Exhalted Brilliance

You are an amazing composer, and this is another epic work of yours. This is a very theatrical piece. I really enjoyed listening to this. I don't really have anything to critique it with. There's always things you can change, but I don't think anything would necessarily make this piece better. I think it is great as it stands. Awesome work. Very good developement and transition from idea to idea. The story is well told.

MaestroRage responds:

Epic songs are my favorite form. Only in this form can I tell the stories I want to tell, the images I want to show.

It's true, a song can be changed in a million ways, whether that change makes it better is an entirely subjective field, some will like it, some won't. I am glad you found yourself enjoying the story, and the song. Thank you for the review! I apologize for the late response!

serene and bold

This is gorgeous, and it sounds like a good flashback/reminiscing song. This is a sweet and simple tune. I really like this piece. It is good writing, as well as very good for general use in a lot of situations. The ending is very nice. This whole piece makes the perfect serenade memory background. Very loving and smooth. You use the different registers of the piano very effectively with setting the tone of the piece. I think you could add a little extra, adding a sweet and soft contrapuntal line an octave or two above what you have written already. I think that and added little section with that would add to the beauty and warmth of a piece like this. A possible note for a future one, just because something is peaceful, doesn't always mean it's soft all the way through. I think if you add even a short section that is powerful, with sounding fifths in the left hand, and full chords, and long runs in the right, that can make that peaceful dream seem so much more meaningful, and then end like you did, softer, and sweetly. But I think that is for another piece, or a variation of this one. I think this one should stay soft and sweet the whole way through, as is. (with the added contrapuntal note i added)
Could you make an orchestral arrangment of this? or a chamber group arrangement? I can sort of hear one in my head, but I'd be interested to see what you would do with it.

CrimzonWolf777 responds:

Thx for the review. ^_^v

I really wasnt sure what the hell I was doing when I made this. It just came to me then next thing you know...bam! New song. lol

hmmm, as far as making an orchestral arrangement, I'll think about it. May need some help with that though. But I'll see what I can do.

good work

I like the way this piece transitions over time. I also like the different themes you put together in this. Each one has a unique development that also ties them together with a similar sound and style. I like the epic grand pause in the middle (right after/around the 2 min mark somewhere). I like the change from one idea to the next, and the use of the original idea. Good work. This is a well rounded piece.

great!

for "not so experienced" this is pretty good. I really enjoyed this. This, like a lot of your work, developes well, and holds interest until the very last second.

I'm a music major who enjoys all kinds of music. I also enjoy building, movie making, and smithing. I've been coming to newgrounds for years, and never signed up, but that's all changing now.
